Blade & Edge FSC Professional Coaching Staff

The Blade & Edge Figure Skating Club has an excellent team of dedicated professionals. Our coaches teach year round for the Moylan Learn to Skate Program and are also available for private instruction for all levels of recreational and competitive skating. Blade & Edge is proud that three of our Senior Coaches hold multiple International Master Ratings with the Professional Skaters Association (PSA). Each club professional is an “Independent Contractor” and scheduling arrangements for private instruction must be made directly with the coach of your choice. Roxanne began her coaching career for the Blade & Edge Figure Skating Club over 30 years ago.  She has successfully coached athletes through   their USFS Gold medals in Freestyle, Moves in the Field and Dance and at Regional level competitions.  Roxanne is the Skating Director of the Blade & Edge Figure Skating Club and also is the Skating Director of   Moylan Iceplex.

As a rated coach through the Professional Skaters Association, she holds a Master Rating in Moves in the Field, Master Rating in Program Director, Master Rating in Group also with a Senior Rating in Dance and Certified Rating in Free Skating and Figures.  Roxanne also holds an IAIM certification in Advanced Certified Skating Director and PSA Level II Ranking and a Level II Hockey certification.  She coaches beginner through senior level and adults in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Dance, Choreography, Group, Hockey, Figures and On and Off-ice Conditioning.

Before her coaching career, Roxanne was a competitive skater for Blade & Edge, attaining a Regional level competition in Ice Dance.

Brenda Bader

Brenda began skating at the age of 3 years of age and has been coaching for  over 28 years.  Blade & Edge Figure Skating Club has been a part of her skating career, both as amateur and a professional.  She has successfully coached athletes through their USFS Gold medals and at the Regional, Sectional and National level competitions.

 As a rated coach through the Professional Skaters Association, she holds a Master Rating in Free Skating, Master Rating in Moves in the Field, Master Rating in Dance, Master Rating in Group and holds a Senior Rating in Figures and a PSA Level III Ranking.  She coaches beginner through senior level and adults in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Dance, Choreography, Group, Hockey, Figures and On and Off-ice Conditioning.

 As an amateur, she received her gold medal in Ice Dance and partial International Ice Dance.  She also received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Omaha.

Kecia began her coaching career here in Omaha in 1989.  She continued to coach at the Indiana/World Skating Academy in Indianapolis IN, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Lincoln, NE.  In the past, Kecia has been a Program Director in Omaha, NE, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Lincoln, NE.

As a rated coach through the Professional Skaters Association, she holds a Master Rating in Group, Master Rating in Program Director and holds a Senior Rating in Free Skating and Certified Rating in Moves in Field.  Kecia holds a PSA Level II Ranking and a Level II Hockey certification.  She coaches all levels in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Group, On and Off-ice conditioning and low-level Dance.

Before her coaching career, Kecia competed at Regional level in Freestyle and Sectional level in Pairs.  Kecia also received her Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Phoenix.

Jason Chase

Jason began his skating career at the age of 13 with Blade & Edge Figure Skating Club.  As a member of Blade & Edge, Jason skated competitively at the local and regional level through high school. 

As an adult skater, he continues to compete at non-qualifying competitions.  Jason currently is working on his Adult Silver Moves in the Field, and Bronze level Dance in both, solo and partner.

Jason enjoys teaching Learn to Skate and low-level skaters in Moves in the Field and Freestyle.  He is a Professional Skater Association member and is currently working on obtaining his Basic Accreditation.

Naomi Greelis

Junior Level Coach

Naomi, originally from Omaha, began her skating career as an Adult.  She has competed in local and regional competitions and enjoys skating on the Starlets Synchronized Skating Team in Lincoln, NE.  Naomi has completed her Adult Bronze Moves in the Field and Freestyle, Preliminary Moves in the Field and Freestyle and Figures along with Partial Pre-Bronze Dances.  Her recent accomplishment was traveling to Vail, CO to participate in the 2019 World Figures and Fancy Skating Championships. 

Naomi holds a Registered Group Rating with the Professional Skaters Association and enjoys teaching Learn to Skate classes in Omaha and Lincoln.

She has received her master’s degree in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA and has a bachelor’s degree in International Studies and in Anthropology and Sociology from Central College in Pella, IA.

David Festner

David began his skating career over 24 years ago with Blade & Edge Figure Skating Club.  As a member of Blade & Edge, he skated competitively at the local and regional level through high school.  Continuing as an adult, David competed several years at the Adult National Championships.  David has achieved his Adult Gold Move in the Fields and Bronze Ice Dance in solo and partnering.

 David enjoys teaching Learn to Skate group classes.  He has received an Associates Degree in Audio and Video Communications.  He is currently furthering his education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in Journalism and Media Communications.

Serenity Scarle

Serenity began her skating career at age of 11 and has been a part of Blade & Edge Figure Skating Club for over 13 years.  Serenity is a double Gold medalist in both Freestyle and Moves in the Fields.  She currently is a competitive skater at the Regional level.  Serenity has participated in various ice shows and competitions throughout her amateur career.

Serenity has successfully completed the Professional Skaters Association Basic Accreditation.  She has been coaching Learn to Skate for the past 3 years and has coached skaters through the Pre-Free Skate level.

Amanda Voelker

Amanda began her skating career at age of 4 with the Blade & Edge Learn to Skate program.  Amanda has tested through the USFS Intermediate Moves in the Field.  She currently is a competitive skater at non-qualifying competitions.  Amanda has participated in various ice shows over her amateur career.

Amanda is a member of the Professional Skaters Association.  She has been coaching Learn to Skate for the past 2 years.

Ashley Hecht

Ashley Hecht

Junior Level Coach

Ashley Hecht began skating in 2016. She started with Learn to Skate classes and soon began taking private lessons. Ashley has passed the Adult Silver Moves in the Field and Adult Bronze Free Skate tests. She skates in local shows and competitions at the Adult Bronze and Silver levels. Her coaches are Brenda Bader and Linda Loker. Ashley began coaching groups for Learn to Skate and club shows in 2018 and private students in 2019.

In 2020, Ashley received her Registered Group rating through the Professional Skaters Association. She is currently working toward her next coaching exam. Ashley continues her coaching education under the direction of her coaches and by attending events sponsored by the Professional Skaters Association. Ashley hopes to share her love of skating and help all skaters realize their potential.

Off the ice, Ashley is in her eighth year of teaching first grade and second year teaching at St. Patrick’s School in Lincoln. Her experience in elementary education has been an asset to coaching young children. Ashley is available for private lessons for adults or children.
